The day began with a torrential downpour of rain, and ended with a breezy, lovely sun-filled sky (ok, so it was slightly overcast) over the Intercoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. We had a small wedding, under 75 guests, and held the ceremony outside on a deck over the water. No one in the wedding party wore shoes -- it's Florida! Why bother? After a simple ceremony, which included a mother's rose portion, we came inside to enjoy a balloon filled room and the sounds of a local jazz band. There was lots of food, a little dancing, much merriment, and abuse of the tinkling of the your waterglass tradition. I think Sam even started a few of the waterglass tinklings himself. (Is there a formal name for that tradition??) And, for anyone who knows us, you'll not be surprised to find that the wedding was filled with purple. The bridesmaids wore lilac dresses, the groomsmen wore lilac accents, the rose bouquets were cream and lilac (as were the fresh flowers on the cake), the balloons (hundreds of them) were purple, lavender and cream. Somehow we ended up with pink napkins on the tables, but it all sort of fell together and created a soft, flowery atmosphere. There were potted, flowering plants on each table. So, feel free to roam through the Wedding Gallery. We'll add more as we can. Also, coming very very soon will be photos from our honeymoon trip to Key West.
