Wild red poppy

Wild red poppy, by the roadside
Your beauty so beguiles me
In silence I watch thee
For in thy soft petals of crimson and red
Lies the eternal face of the glory

Wild red poppy, by the roadside
You are so fragile and yet so infinitely strong
never before has anybody told me
How to have countenance like yours
Teach me to feel your peace and serenity
For in your brief moments lies all eternity
You sway with the breeze and yet feel only
The love of the face of God that gave you your beauty

Oh fragile poppy, crimson and red
You spring from nowhere
Although it seems the Earth’s bed
The idea of you like a flame
Illuminates the darkest stain
In the night
And in the morning when
The heavens cry and soft dewdrops
Flow like tears on thy silk and satin skin
Yet you breath a sigh of joy
And you and the maker are one
And if around all is waste land
You shine like a torch or a beacon
For others their paths to find

Teach me to feel thy eternal joy
Teach me to be as the butterfly is
For in his short life you are an eternity
Teach me to know what the butterfly knows
That three days of joy are worth
A thousand of sorrows

Teach me to hover on the breath of God
With wings like silken thread reflecting
The light of gold
Teach me to fly so that I can cry
In the blueness of the deep sky
Teach me how thy eternal flame glows
How thy beauty forever shows

You are untouched, at peace
Smiling at the folly of our time-full beliefs
No hands of a clock can touch you
no passing of days wither you
No seasons freeze or suns burn you,
you are in a moment, in an instant
In the mind of the one
And there you shall remain in his embrace
For eternal glorified days

teach me to see you, to touch you
To reach into thy spirit
For I would do anything to be without these limits
Oh wild red poppy by the roadside
Who loves as none of us even knows how to love
Who gives as none of us even knows how to give
In you is spring and summer
And fire and water
In you is beauty and peace
Serenity and glory
In you is passion and love and grace
In you is the Everlasting Face
